The quaint town of Munising Michigan will be our base as we explore the great north woods. The area around Munising and Alger County is full of photographic opportunities; it’s rich in natural resources and scenic beauty.  Just outside of town we’ll explore the Hiawatha National Forest and the Picture Rocks National Lakeshore.  In Picture Rocks we’ll photograph the beautiful sandstone cliffs and rock formations it’s famous for, we’ll shoot sunset  over Lake Superior and we’ll photographic the stunning waterfalls that dot the landscape.

Hiawatha National Forest in known in photography circles for its stunning fall colors and quiet forest lakes. We’ll take full advantage of both of these natural features. Early morning will find us at a secluded lake capturing images of the morning mist rising off the water with reflections of Birch trees and fall colors in the water.  Throughout the day we’ll visit many scenic spots to photograph subjects like cascading waterfalls, brilliant fall colors, autumn mushrooms and patterns of Birch and Maple leaves.

This is a fully shooting tour, during our four days all instruction will be done in the field.  We’ll spend all our time in the field creating images. We’ll be out early to capture the best of the morning light and stay out late to get the best of the evening light. During your time shooting you’ll be encouraged to ask questions about anything from technique to composition. Learning through a hands-on approach is what we believe in and we encourage at all times.

We’ll begin our tour with a meet and greet (get-to-know each other) session  on Wednesday evening. From there, we’ll head out on Thursday morning to capture images and have a fun.

Notes:  The cost of this tour is $700 and includes snacks and drinks through out the tour and handouts/instructional materials. Transportation will be car pooling. This tour will be based from the Alger Falls Motel in Munising . Lodging is not included but a block of rooms has been reserved for guests of Natural Impressions.
